German Intermediate Course I (B1.1)

Class Description

This level is for anyone who can easily use the present and past tenses to talk about everyday activities or tell short stories and anecdotes. You should feel comfortable in the present and past tense (Perfekt) and know the accusative and dative cases as well as the respective adjective endings and modal verbs. You should be able to speak about the weather, to order food and book a hotel room, to describe living arrangements and clothes using adjectives, to discuss topics of health and body parts and how to talk to a doctor. In this level, students will learn reflexive verbs (e.g. sich rasieren, sich fragen), conjunctions, and clauses to build more complex sentences (weil, obwohl, da, etc.). We will learn the future tense and the "Infinitivkonstruktionen mit zu" (e.g.: Ich freue mich dich zu sehen.). In class, we will also work a lot on our conversation skills by talking about our resumés, various lifestyles and plans for the future. We have very small class sizes with only 3-6 students per class. That way, we ensure that all course participants receive a lot of one-on-one attention, so the class can be tailored to our students' needs. This enables our students to learn the language very fast and efficiently. We pursue a conversational approach in all our classes to get our students to speak the language confidently as quickly as possible. When learning a language, it is crucial to actually practice speaking the language to be prepared for conversations in real life situations. This can be achieved best in an intimate class setting with few students as each student benefits from having lots of time to speak in class. The course fee of $299 covers all the costs - 10 classes à 1.5 hours, the coursebook and the registration fee. All online language courses are held via Zoom and we would ask you to install the Zoom desktop app before the class. You will receive the link within 24 hours before the course starts. After successfully completing the class, we offer to provide a certificate of completion upon request. We are committed to offering follow-up courses for all our students who wish to continue taking the next higher course level. The next courses will start in January, April and October.

Cancellation Policy

To cancel, please contact us at least 8 days before the class start to be eligible for a full refund. In most cases, it will not be possible to receive a refund or credit after that. To be able to keep our class sizes small and course fees low, we need our customers to stick to their reservation.
